Spirit of the Sound Scholarship Shenandoah Sound’s goals are to provide an opportunity for everyone to actively participate in music throughout their lives. One of Shenandoah Sound’s objectives is to promote personal and musical growth through performance in the drum corps activity and has created the Spirit of the Sound Scholarship. The scholarship will be presented to a member who is high school junior or senior or pursuing secondary education who demonstrates that music is a life-long activity through their inclusion of musical endeavors along with their role as a student and a well-rounded member of the community. Requirements: - High school junior or senior of full-time post-secondary school student
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4-point scale
- Shenandoah Sound member in good standing, all corps financial obligations met and completed the previous season including participation at prelims and finals (if applicable)
- Participation in extra-curricular activities and/or community organizations which demonstrate the characteristics for a well-rounded member of the community
- Made a positive contribution to Shenandoah Sound beyond skillful musical performance
Application process: - Provide high school or post-secondary school transcript (as applicable)
- Write an essay (maximum 2 page/1000 words) describing the applicant’s educational goals, and extra-curricular/community activities and role music plays and how the applicant has made a positive contribution to Shenandoah Sound beyond skillful musical performance.
- Provide an electronic copy to or a hard copy no later than July 11, 2009.
